LOCAL PROGRAMS

The Mount Rose (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, continues to advance the impactful work of its Services to Youth Facet. Our programs have introduced high school students in Prince George’s County, Maryland, to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through campus tours and immersive experiences that highlight academic offerings in culture, medicine, STEAM, and business, expanding awareness and access to higher education. In addition, the Chapter has also supported elementary students through structured reading and tutoring programs as well as etiquette lessons.

In collaboration with the Friendly High School Academy of Health Professions Scholars, with a focus on STEM, the Mount Rose Chapter implemented a unique initiative that equipped students with the skills, training, and mentorship required to qualify for Certified Medical Health Assistant certification upon successful completion of the certification exam. This outstanding programming earned the Services to Youth Facet a Best Practices Award from The Links, Incorporated Eastern Area.

The Chapter addressed community safety by partnering with local organizations to provide swim-safety instruction for youth and families and to promote water-safety awareness, aimed at preventing accidental drownings in the community.
